FOUNDATION YEAR FOR THE
BACHELOR’S in NUTRITION
The British University, University of Greenwich, is expanding its collaboration with New York College with a new program in the area of Sciences. The Foundation Programme is prerequisite for admission to the BA(Hons) in Human Nutrition. New York College is now accepting applications for the Foundation Programme.
Foundation Programme
This is one-year programme aiming to providing students with a sound preparation in human nutrition, so that students are eligible to register for the BSc(Hons) in Human Nutrition. In particular, the Foundation Programme aims at:
(i) Preparing students for their studies at the BSc(Hons) in Human Nutrition by offering them introductory courses in biology, chemistry, maths, English and laboratory skills;
(ii) Developing students’ knowledge in scientific disciplines;
(iii) Enhancing students’ numerical and critical-analysis skills;
(iv) Preparing students to communicate effectively in academic registers, including presentations, assignments, and exams;
(v) Initiating students to laboratory practice;
(ii) Creating a filter that ensures (via in-class performance and the final exams) that students are well-prepared for the rigours of a degree program in this field.
Upon successful completion of the Foundation Programme, students may proceed to the degree programme, in the academic year 2012-2013. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Nutrition combines the theoretical training with the most contemporary technology, offering to its graduates the opportunity and the skills to secure employment, among others, in the area of the food industry, hospitals, nursing homes and geriatric centers, child care centers, weight redaction & health nutrition clinics, food analysis laboratories and microbiological & research laboratories.
