Mission:
TThe mission of the Department of International Relations at New York College is to offer high quality and challenging undergraduate education, in cooperation with the State University of New York, Empire State College, and to equip students with the knowledge and skills, ranging from economics and politics to history and communication, necessary for making a significant contribution to the new globalized environment. Strategically located in Southeastern Europe, and given the long and often turbulent past of the region, New York College, provides a rich cultural, historical and political environment for students interested in exploring the field of international relations. Therefore, our Department aspires to expose our students to a plethora of stimuli such as seminars and lectures from the movers and shakers in regional politics, site visits, internship opportunities, and intercultural contacts.
 
Objectives:
The Department of International Relations focuses on the following objectives:
  • Excellence in teaching with the employment of faculty members who combine the academic and professional background.
  • Emphasis on the development of students’ skills in order to enhance employability.
  • Teaching students to adapt to the present global reality by broadening their scope and outlook of the world at large.
  • Continuous improvement and development of the curriculum and the introduction of new undergraduate and postgraduate programs, in response to the highly dynamic global environment, and with a distinctive foundation in liberal arts and a focus on raising students’ awareness on ethical, moral, environmental, and political issues of the modern society.
  • Research activities which will link the Department with the world of Government and International Relations in a meaningful way for students and faculty.
  • Offering life-long training opportunities for graduates and working professionals of businesses, government and organizations.
