Mr. Nikos Gousopoulos : is the Administrative Head of Maritime Studies. He holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Piraeus and a MSc in Shipping from Cardiff University. Mr. Gousopoulos has also, a 25-year working experience in Shipping in addition to 10 years in Maritime Education, including 8 years teaching experience.

Mission:
The mission of the  Maritime Studies Section at New York College is to offer unique maritime education, in response to the need for academic thinking combined with the practical aspects of the dynamic and competitive shipping industry.
In cooperation with the University of Greenwich (London-UK), the programmes offered, aim firstly, to equipping young students with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a successful career in Greek and International Shipping and secondly, to providing aspiring Shipping Executives with additional and in-depth knowledge, to ensure the future of Greece as the world's number one shipping nation.
 
 Objectives:
The Section of Maritime Studies has the following aims:
  • Provide teaching of the highest quality with the employment of faculty members who combine high academic qualifications and extensive working experience in Shipping and other affiliated industries.
  • Provide students with a learning base that will enable them to remain abreast of all the new developments in the industry.
  • Develop student confidence in the application of their knowledge and skills in the field of Ship Operations.
  • Educate students in the techniques of Ship Management and make them aware of the future direction this field may take.
  • Graduate students who can effectively and with great efficiency plan and manage shipping projects.
