Sentcha and Matcha tasting

Japanese Tea presentation event was held on June 28th at 19:00 at the New York College Atrium. During the event, a seminar was held by Mrs. Hiroko Yoshida and Antonis Mavridis, Patissier partner of Stelios Parliaros. The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Masuo Nishibayashi, Ambassador of Japan, Mrs. Masuo Nishibayashi and Ms. Mao Shimizu, Cultural Consultant of the Japanese Embassy.

Following a brief address by Mr. Yiannis Fikas, Public Relations Director of New York College, the President of the Greek – Japanese Association Mr. Demos Vratsanos briefly referred to the history of Japanese tea and focused particularly on the healing properties and benefits to a human’s health. Afterwards, Mrs. Hiroko Yoshida demonstrated the preparation of Japanese tea and Matcha, which is used for the tea ceremony.

During the presentation, the more than 100 participants of the event had the opportunity to try the luscious and unprecedented creations of Mrs. Yoshida and Mr. Mavridis, such as Sencha and Matcha with various methods of preparation, Summer Green tea refreshments, cold Sencha and Matcha frappe, Matcha Ice cream, Matcha pancake with Azuki cream or Matcha chocolate or Omelette.

 

The President of the Greek – Japanese Association Mr. Demos Vratsanos, the Ambassador of Japan Mr. Masuo Nishibayashi, Mrs. Masuo Nishibayashi, Mrs. Hiroko Yoshida and the New York College Public Relations Director, Mr. Yiannis Fikas.
