{"id":8292,"date":"2026-08-03T17:30:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T14:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nyc.webdemo.gr\/?page_id=8292"},"modified":"2026-08-03T17:30:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T14:30:08","slug":"celta-application-form","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.nyc.gr\/en\/celta-application-form\/","title":{"rendered":"CELTA Application Form"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Thank you for your interest in our CELTA courses.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We advise you to research the course online to make sure it is appropriate for you before applying; the interview process also seeks to make sure you are fully informed and eligible.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete the application form Part A and we will send you the Language Awareness tasks Part B \u2013the interviewer (CELTA certified trainer) will then get back to you with comments, we politely request that you word-process Part B.<\/li>\n<li>Return the application Part B to fmalkogiorgou@nyc.gr<br \/>\nWe will contact you as soon as possible (within 5 days) to arrange an interview ether face to face or Skype.<\/li>\n<li>Half an hour before the Interview you will be sent a language awareness task.<\/li>\n<li>At the end of the interview, you will usually be informed of the result of your application.<\/li>\n<li>We will contact you to confirm the offer of a place and deal with payment and administrative details.<br \/>\nYour place is not finally confirmed until you have paid your deposit.<\/li>\n<li>You will be given some suggestions for Pre-Course Reading \u2013 these are reproduced below. Please note that some of the grammar books will be helpful for you in completing the application tasks \u2013 using them demonstrates the ability to research and is not seen as cheating!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Grammar books:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Practical English Usage&#8221;, Michael Swan, OUP.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Grammar for English Language Teachers&#8221;, Martin Parrott, CUP.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Essential Grammar in Use&#8221;, Raymond Murphy, CUP (this one is for CPs who have never studied English grammar \u2013 normally native speakers).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;How English Works&#8221;, Michael Swan and Catherine Walter, OUP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you feel you are particularly weak on Language Awareness, the following online courses may be useful for you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cGrammar for Language Teachers\u201d from www.elt-training.com \u2013 This is a lengthy course with several video presentations \u2013 you can view a sample but then it has to be paid for \u2013 the latest available fee was \u00a319.99.<\/li>\n<li>http:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/internet-grammar\/home.htm &#8211; This is a free course which is recommended by several CELTA Centres.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Methodology books: choose from the following \u2013 if you are short of time, the last named is easiest and quickest to read:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Learning Teaching&#8221;, Jim Scrivener, Macmillan Heinemann (new edition 2005).<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;The Practice of English Language Teaching&#8221;, Jeremy Harmer, Longman.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;How to Teach English&#8221;, Jeremy Harmer, Longman.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you for your interest in our CELTA courses.
