Dr. Georgios Papamichail

Dr.  Georgios Papamichail:  (CCDP, CCNP, CCNA  Sec,  CCAI): George holds a Ph.D  in  Group Decision Making from the Athens University of Economics and Business and a DipI-Ing in computer engineering and informatics from the University of Patras, Greece. He works as Head at the Department of Coordination  of  the  Institute  of  Training,  Greek  National  Center  of  Public  Administration,  and  is interested in Network Management and Security, Group decision making and negotiations, Clustering applications, Management Information Systems and Business Strategy. During the last 15 years he has worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Information Systems at the Department of Management Science  and  Technology  at  the  Athens  University  of  Economics  and  Business  (AUEB),  as  a  senior researcher at the Eltrun (the e-Business Center) at the AUEB, as Scientific Personnel at the Greek Open University, and as a consultant to the Greek Government and a number of Greek firms. He is the main Cisco Instructor at the Greek National Center of Public Administration and has received teaching awards both from Cisco (Instructor Excellence 2012), New York College (2010) and the Athens University of Economics and Business (2005). He has published more than 30 papers in well-known journals and conferences such as the European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Decision Systems and the Computer Journal.

Dr. Andrew Salisbury

Dr. Andrew Salisbury (FHEA BEng HONS PhD IEEE), after achieving a first class Honors degree at Lancaster University in England and completing his PGCE, he was offered an unconditional PhD which he undertook in the year 2000.  His PhD was based on a revolutionary electronic computerized system in conjunction with Siemens Ltd.  During his PhD he travelled all over the world presenting his work in such places like Singapore, America and Malaysia.  Andrew has also won numerous awards for presenting his work; the top two being recognized as a younger Engineer award at the House of Commons in London and top presenter in IEEE (institute of electrical and electronic engineers) in the UK.  After successfully completing the project with Siemens, Andrew followed his dreams to live in a Mediterranean climate and soon after found himself in Greece.  Recently, Andrew has just taken his fellowship (FHEA) in teaching and learning at Sheffield University completing a 2-year postgraduate qualification.  At New York College he has been teaching MIS and computer applications for numerous years. 

Dr. Ioannis Pandithas

Dr. Ioannis Pandithas (MSc(Eng.), PhD, AMInstP, MIEE): Ioannis has graduated from the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus with a Major on Electronic Engineering. He has studied in the University of Liverpool in England and was awarded a Master of Engineering in Microelectronic Systems and Telecommunications, with a research project for Airbus and Flight Refueling LTD and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Microwave Engineering, Plasma Science and Scientific Computing in 2003, funded by the British Government. He has also worked until 2005 for the University of Liverpool as a Senior Research Fellow in various areas of Electronic Engineering and Computing for the British Government and NATO. He has also published seven research papers in Scientific Journals and presented scientific work in eight International Conferences worldwide and co-authored a book concerning the advances in plasma science. In 2007 he received a special Congressional Recognition from the United States House of Representatives for teaching Science and Engineering to the young generations. He has also taught web design, databases and graphics design in the University of Liverpool Continuous Education Scheme. Currently, he is the Associate Dean of Engineering and Informatics in New York College and his expertise focuses on Electronics Engineering (Digital Electronics, Microwave Engineering, Microprocessors) and Computing (Web Development, Databases and Internet Engineering and Security). He is a Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and an Associate Member of the Institute of Physics.

Dr. Ioannis Venetis

Ioannis possesses a Diploma in Computer & Informatics Engineering from the University of Patras and an MSc in Computer Science from the same Department and University. He also holds a PhD from the department of Computer & Informatics Engineering, with a thesis on the area of Parallel Architectures. After his PhD he moved on to a Post-Doctoral Associate position at the University of Delaware, USA. He has participated in several research projects sponsored by the European Space Agency (ESA), the Ministry of Education & Religions, Culture & Sports and the European Commission (Seventh Framework  Programme  -FP7).  Ioannis  has  published  his  research  in  major  international journals,  book  chapters  and  conferences  and  has  served  as  a  reviewer  in  several  conferences, workshops  and  symposiums.  He  is  currently  a  reviewer  for  the  Journal  of Parallel  and  Distributed Computing, Elsevier Science. Ioannis has extensive teaching experience in numerous programming courses both in public and private higher and highest education institutions.

Dr. Polyxeni Vourna

Dr. Polyxeni Vourna (MSC, PhD): Polyxeni is a Doctor of Engineering, an active Researcher in the field of Telecommunications, Spectroscopy and an experienced academic in the fields of telecommunications and networking engineering. She has been awarded with a Bachelor of Physics from the University of Patras, a Master of Science on Data Communication Systems from the University Of Brunel (UK) and a Doctorate of Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). She was also a lecturer on the Technological Educational Institute of Sterea Ellada for four years in the fields of telecommunications and electronic circuit design. Polyxeni is also a speaker of English, German, Turkish and French and has published ten research papers and ten refereed conferenced papers as well. She is the lecturer of Wireless Data Technologies.

Elena Baltzoglou

Elena Baltzoglou (Bsc, MSc): Eleni is a Graduate of the Department of Applied Mathematics of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and has also been certified as a Mathematics Teacher from the same University. She has also received a Master’s Degree in Marine Engineering Management from the University of Greenwich via collaboration with New York College. She has been teaching mathematics for six years, two of which on different study programmes offered by New York College. Her academic interests involve biostatistics, Data Analysis with R, and Mathematics with Python.

Kyvele Constantina Diareme, PhDc

Kyvele is finishing a PhD in WebGIS (Web Geographic Information Systems) in the Informatics Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA).  Her research interests include WebGIS, Personalized/Team Touring, Tour optimization.  She holds two Master of Science degrees - in Geoinformatics and her thesis subject was “Personalized routing in outdoor spaces (touring): route planning techniques and algorithms” and in Agricultural Economics and Rural Development/Degree in Agronomy – thesis subject “Development of an Information System for agricultural supply warehouse management”.  She has also participated in the Greek Open Courses e-learning program dedicated to the adaptation of courses taught at Greek Higher Education Institutes to the digital environment. Kyvele is the tutor for Management of Information Systems which is an area of special interest to her.

Mr Karanikas Thomas

Mr. Karanikas Thomas completed his studies in Automation Engineer from T.E.I. Thessaloniki and after that he obtain a Master’s Degree in Information Systems from Open University of Cyprus. He is Cisco certified associate and he is also actively involved in seminars of Cisco Routing & Switching – Security - Collaboration, Microsoft Server and information systems of Sap and SoftOne. He has been working for IT companies for the past 20 years as systems and networks administrator. At 2013 he began teaching at vocation training institutes and from 2017 he is instructor and system and networks administrator at New York College Thessaloniki Campus.

Mr. Nikolaos Lakafosis

Mr. Nikolaos Lakafosis (MSc,PhDc): Nikolaos is finishing his PhD in Advanced Databases at the National Technical University of Athens and is the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of MED.I.S S.A.. HE specializes in technical solution provision, Software Architecture and Business Development and Database Design and Architecture. He has been awarded with a Bachelor and a Master’s Degree of Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. Nikolaos has also worked for major software corporations, such as Unifost-Altec S.A. and Exodus-Exus. He is also a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece as a Chartered Engineer.  Having over twenty years of professional experience, he has been teaching Database Warehousing, Database Design, Data Mining and Advanced Database Development for New York College BSc Study programmes.

Ms. Penny Vlagos

Penny was educated in the USA. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business and an MBA from Loyola University Chicago in Human Resource Management. Having moved to Greece in 1994, she worked for a multinational subscription television company as the Human Resource Officer. Penny has been teaching Business courses for New York College since 1999 at both the undergraduate and graduate level. As a licensed Leadership trainer for Dale Carnegie, she had the opportunity to conduct training events for the largest organizations in Greece. For the last year, she has also been teaching an online course in Lebanon through the Center for Distance Learning of Empire State College. Having the ability to build relationships with her students, she is in touch not only with current students but alumni as well.

Nena Gkorou

Nena Gkorou (BSc, MSc): Nena is a full-time Mathematics lecturer and Head of Student Advisors at New York College. She holds a Degree from the Department of Mathematics from the University of Crete and a Master’s Degree on Pure Mathematics from the University of Patras. She has been lecturer of Higher-Level Mathematics for eleven years at the Hellenic Air Force Academy and the Technical School of Air Force. She has also conducted seven seminars and workshops on universities and mathematic societies and published four research papers on mathematics and presented her research work four international conferences. She is also a member of the Hellenic Mathematical Society and a member of the Union of Greek Mathematicians.
