NYC Department of Psychology Seminar Series 2017-18

The talk will include an Introduction to Mindfulness, Mindfulness in Education, Integrating Mindfulness within Social and Emotional Learning Programmes, and Implementation in Greek Schools.  Participants will have the opportunity to participate in an experiential exercise in core mindful practices.

Psychology and Aviation Psychology: Bridging the Gap through Risk Perception

Participants will have the opportunity to make links between academic research in psychology and an applied safety context. The basic concepts of Aviation Psychology and Human Factors will be introduced and participants will reflect on everyday decision-making and special hazards they will make contact with through scenarios demonstrated via a flight simulator.

The writing & research center workshop series 2017-18

This workshop aims to:

1. Define reflection and Introduce students to different types of reflective writing
2. Encourage students to discuss about their learning experience
3. Apply Gibbs reflective cycle to write an essay/report
4. Examine examples of good practice
5. Use a reflective writing evaluation rubric to assess your reflective writing skills
6. Produce a reflection report on the effectiveness of this workshop

"Caring in the Learning Environment: Helping Students and Teachers Grow" STAFF DEVELOPMENT SYMPOSIUM

This presentation will explore the growing focus on teaching ‘excellence’ in Higher Education. It will present national UK policy and look at ways in which the University of Greenwich and its partners are responding to staff development initiatives in teaching and learning.
