"Behaviour Therapy for Anxiety Disorders" - Dr. Yiannis Kasvikis

04/06/2010 - 19:00
04/06/2010 - 20:30
Etc/GMT+3

Speaker: Dr Yiannis Kasvikis (Psychiatrist, Director of the Behaviour Therapy Unit, Athens Center of Mental Health)

Behaviour Therapy constitutes one of the most important developments so far in the fields of psychiatry and psychotherapy. Hundreds of clinical studies and a large number of reviews and meta-analyses testify its effectiveness in the treatment of anxiety disorders and its advantages compared to other forms of psychological treatment or pharmacotherapy. In addition, since the 60ies numerous scientific studies have examined aspects of its practical application and mechanisms of its action. In the 21st century, where psychotherapies are expected to have theoretical bases on empirical evidence and proven effectiveness, behaviour therapy is considered the treatment of choice for anxiety disorders. THE LECTURE WILL BE IN GREEK.

Dr Kasvikis is internationally known for his scientific work (clinical, research and teaching) and for his long-standing efforts in the advancement and further development of behavioural treatments. His lecture will focus on the basic principles and the clinical application of behaviour therapy in anxiety disorders.
