Dr. Pavlou Konstantinos N. B.Sc.
Dr. Pavlou completed his university studies in the USA (1970–1982), with foundational studies in Sports Sciences and postgraduate specializations in Exercise Physiology–Coaching, Clinical and Sports Nutrition, and the Organization and Management of Academic-Research Organizations, alongside his active involvement in research across these fields. He served as Head of the Research and Applications Sector at the National Sports Research Center (EKAER) of the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (OAKA) (1986–2011), while concurrently engaging in academia as a visiting professor at the English institution University of Northumbria at Newcastle UK. Prior to returning to Greece, he held academic and research positions at top American higher education institutions, including Unity College (1975–1977), University of Maine at Orono (1976–1978), Boston University Medical School (1981–1983), and Harvard Medical School (1982–1986). In Greece, as co-founder and president of the first “Private College of Sports Sciences” (1990–2011), he pioneered the introduction of the “Sports Organization and Management” specialization into Greek education (ERASMUS Program). He was co-founder and the first Academic President of Hellenic American University (2004–2006), and chaired the organizational initiatives for the establishment of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science (TEFAA) at the University of Thessaly (1986) and Harokopio University of Athens (1992). In 1999, he was unanimously elected a lifetime member of the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education (FAAKPE), which comprises 150 elite scientists worldwide. He is the author of seven books and conference proceedings in Greek (3) and English (4), and has published pioneering research data in both Greek and English. He was a high-level athlete in Football (Niki Volou F.C. – Alpha Ethniki/First Division), Rowing (Volos Nautical Club), and Track and Field (G.S. Volos). At various periods, he served as a university-level coach (Football, Basketball, and Long-Distance Running) in the USA. In addition to offering his services at EKAER to athletes of all National and professional Greek teams, he periodically served as a scientific advisor to the following federations: Hellenic Swimming Federation (1986–1990), Hellenic Basketball Federation (1986–1990), and Hellenic Rowing Federation.
