Dr. Karataglis Dimitrios
Born in Thessaloniki in 1969, he graduated from the Experimental School of the University of Thessaloniki in 1987. He attended the School of Medicine at AUTH (1987–1993) on a scholarship, graduating with highest honors (“Arista”). Following basic surgical training, he specialized in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology at hospitals in Great Britain and at the 1st University Orthopedic Department of AUTH, “G. Papanikolaou” General Hospital. He obtained the title of Orthopedic and Trauma Specialist (CCST Orth) following required examinations (April 2003). He underwent post-specialty fellowship training in arthroscopic surgery and shoulder and knee reconstruction and arthroplasty as a salaried Consultant at the Department of Shoulder and Knee Surgery at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, Great Britain (July 2003–November 2004). He continued his specialization as a scientific associate at the Sports Injuries Department of the 1st University Orthopedic Department of AUTH, “G. Papanikolaou” General Hospital (December 2004–March 2007). He was awarded his Doctorate from the AUTH School of Medicine with highest honors (“Arista”) in June 2005. From March 2007 to September 2011, he worked as an Orthopedic Consultant at the 1st University Orthopedic Department of AUTH, “G. Papanikolaou” General Hospital, with special clinical and research interests in sports injuries, shoulder and knee arthroscopic surgery, musculoskeletal trauma, and minimally invasive surgery (MIS) arthroplasty. From September 2011 to the present, he maintains a private practice and collaborates as an Orthopedic Surgeon with the “St. Luke’s” Hospital, specializing in sports injuries, shoulder, knee, and ankle arthroscopic surgery, musculoskeletal trauma, and minimally invasive (MIS) knee and hip arthroplasties.
