Mavroeidi Varvara

Dr. Varvara Mavroeidi is a distinguished chemist and biomedical researcher with extensive expertise in medicinal chemistry, cancer research, neurodegenerative diseases, radiopharmaceuticals, nanotechnology, and drug development. She holds a Doctorate (PhD) in Chemistry, a Master of Science (MSc) in Inorganic Chemistry, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her doctoral and master’s research focused on the synthesis, characterization, and biological evaluation of metal complexes exhibiting anticancer activity. Over the past decade, she has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Centre for Scientific Research “DEMOKRITOS,” the University of Athens, and other major research institutions, participating in numerous national and European research programs. Her work includes developing diagnostic and therapeutic agents for cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, amyloidosis, and other brain disorders, alongside the biological evaluation of natural products, radiopharmaceuticals, nanoparticles, and novel drug delivery systems. Most recently, she investigates the biological effects of particulate matter and aerosols in cellular and animal models.
