New York College welcomes young people from Spain as part of the European Erasmus+ programme “Youth on the Move: Traditions without Borders”

New York College welcomed a group of young people and their chaperones from Spain, as part of the KA152-YOU – Youth Mobility programme under Erasmus+, entitled "Youth on the Move: Traditions without Borders". The project is implemented by the Asociación Municipal de Coros y Danzas de Peligros (Granada, Spain), with New York College responsible for organising the hosting in Athens.

The group of Spanish visitors, made up of young people aged 17-20, group leaders and facilitators, was welcomed with an introductory meeting aimed at getting to know Greece, its culture and its traditions. The goal of the programme is to strengthen young people's social and intercultural skills through tradition — dance, music and intangible cultural heritage — as a tool for non-formal learning.

During the visit, New York College presented Greek traditions to the Spanish guests through a special event titled "Traditional Dances and Costumes – Danzas y Trajes Tradicionales", a journey through the Greek folk soul from the Aegean islands to the Black Sea. The young Spanish visitors had the opportunity to experience traditional dances from different regions of Greece up close.

New York College is actively involved across the full scope of the programme: from organising the preparatory visit in Greece, to hosting and facilitating educational, cultural and artistic activities. The "Youth on the Move: Traditions without Borders" programme is yet another example of New York College's active participation in European Erasmus+ programmes, aiming to empower young people and promote intercultural understanding through dialogue and tradition.
