Bachelor in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience

The Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience programme at New York College offers the opportunity to explore a contemporary approach to the study of the relationship between Brain and Mind. You will gain a sound understanding of mental and psychological processes and develop advanced knowledge of the neural, hormonal, and molecular structures and networks that underpin the mind. We offer our students a range of opportunities to develop specific skills that are relevant to careers in a neuroscience environment. You will have opportunities to develop specific neuroscience-relevant skills, in areas such as EEG data collection and processing, and neuropsychological assessment. Our highly-qualified team, with considerable clinical and research experience on the field, will introduce you to complex ideas and research skills whilst supporting and encouraging you. Throughout your degree you will develop your knowledge and skills for conducting psychological research, and the ethical issues involved, with the support of our fully equipped Psychology Research Laboratory and full-time Psychology Technician. Students have the possibility to work on disseminating their final year research projects, through conference presentations and journal articles, jointly with the supervising member of faculty and with additional support from the Psychology Technician.

  • 4 year programme: A pass mark in your High School Certificate & IELTS 5.0
  • 3 year programme: A High School Certificate of 15+ & IELTS 6.0

Careers

As a graduate of our BSc (Hons) Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience, you’ll have a sound knowledge of human behaviour and research, statistics, and writing skills. This combination of skills can provide a foundation for many careers, particularly roles that involve working with a range of complex issues or data.

Upon successfully completing the course, you’ll be able to demonstrate in-demand graduate skills such as high order analysis, research skills, problem-solving, interpersonal awareness, communication skills, the ability to develop arguments supported by relevant evidence, teamwork, and IT and data handling skills.

The final year modules, and the Applied Experience (internship placement) module in particular, maximizes practical abilities to apply knowledge gained through the programme thus ensuring academic, professional and employability skills are developed side by side. 

Numerous career paths are open to BSc (Hons) Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience graduates. Options include clinical, forensic, occupational, educational, health, sport and exercise psychology, teaching and research in academic departments and other institutions that require technical laboratory expertise.

Entry Requirements

For Level 3- Year 0: You should have an Apolytirion (Greek Leaving Certificate) minimum score 10 or equivalent. If English is not your first language you will need to complete a secure English Language Test at IELTS 5.0 or equivalent.

For Level 4- Year 1: You should have an Apolytirion (Greek Leaving Certificate) minimum score 14 or equivalent for entry into HE4. If English is not your first language you will need to complete a secure English Language Test at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

An interview may also be required to consider applicants’ suitability.
