Maria has specialised in Linguistics and Education Management. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Crete, at the Department of Philology, specialising in Linguistics. Afterwards, she pursued an MPhil in Linguistics at the University of Utrecht. The second year of her MPhil program she visited Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her interest in Language and Education drove her to a second Master on Education Management at the University of Volos. She specialized in Education Policy and more precisely at the impact of Bologna declaration on tertiary education. Maria has recently submitted her PhD dissertation in Linguistics at the University of Crete. Her dissertation focused on the Syntax/semantics of Greek particles. During her studies (BA, Master and PhD) she has received several scholarships from IKY, Merkouri Foundation, and Dretakis scholarship (i.a.).
Maria holds a long experience in teaching in secondary and tertiary education. Apart from teaching, she continues her academic research paticipating in several international and national linguistic conferences. Maria has visited University of Vienna and University of Stuttgart as a researcher, and has participated in summer schools in Boston (co organized by Harvard and MIT), in Saint Petersburg (co-organized by Univ. of Saint Petersburg and New York University) and in Crete (administrator at Creteling summer school). At New York College she teaches Advanced Structure and Meaning Year 3, BA H English Language and ELT of the University of Greenwich.

Mrs Malinaki Evanthia, PhD Candidate at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki - Mrs Eva Malinaki after completed her Bachelor in Journalism and Mass Media at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, she received an MA in Communication and Culture where she graduated with excellence. Currently she is a PhD Candidate at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and for her excellent doctoral studies she has been awarded with a scholarship from Onassis Foundation. Eva Malinaki has also participated in many international scientific conferences in the field of communication. She has worked as a journalist for the major newspapers and magazines in Thessaloniki as well as a communication consultant in advertizing and PR agencies and local beneficial organizations. Since 2010 she has also been working as an adult teacher specializing in the fields of journalism, marketing, and communication. She is also a certified adult trainer from the National Organization for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP).

Dr Axiotis (Akis) Kechagias, Lecturer in Linguistics
Akis Kechagias is a Fellow of the British Higher Education Academy (HEA). He completed his doctoral and master’s studies in University College London (UCL), Division of Psychology and Language Sciences with funding by the Hellenic Scholarship Foundation (IKY) and the Onassis Foundation. He graduated with a first-class degree in Linguistics from the department of Philology, School of Philosophy at University of Ioannina. He has an extended experience of teaching at various institutions across England (UCL, University of Westminster, Queen Mary—University of London, University of Hertfordshire) and he has held various external examiner roles for the British Open University and the University of Hertfordshire. For the last nine years up until September 2021 when he joined NYC, he taught on undergraduate and postgraduate courses in English Language, Linguistics and TESOL at the University of Salford, in Manchester, UK, programmes which he intermittently led, while he also developed new multi-disciplinary undergraduate programmes such as BSc (Hons) Psychology with English Language. Research-wise, Akis works within the broad context of Theoretical and Applied linguistics. His research revolves mostly around the structural properties of natural language and grammatical theory, the relation between different linguistic subsystems (particularly the syntax-morphology interface), as well as the relation between language structure and language-external systems such as cognition and information structure. He also has a keen interest in psycholinguistics (especially in the relation between linguistic knowledge and parsing), language acquisition (especially the acquisition of syntax and discourse functions in L1 and L2) and quantitative methods in Linguistics. Akis has successfully supervised PhD students working on various projects.

Foteini Malkogeorgou
Foteini Malkogeorgou is the Academic Director of the English Language and English Language Teaching Department of New York College (NYC), Thessaloniki. She is Lecturer in Linguistics, the Methodology of English language Teaching, and ELT Material Design of the BA (Hons) English language and English Language teaching of the University of Greenwich UK offered at NYC. She is also a certified Cambridge CELTA trainer and director of the Thessaloniki CELTA centre at New York College. She offers career and work placement support to the ELT and CELTA graduates of New York College and is founder of the pilot volunteer ‘Young learners Project’. She holds an MA in Educational Technology and TESOL from the University of Manchester UK, the RSA DELTA, and BSc Economics Aristotle University. She has 10 years of experience as an EAP (English for Academic Purposes) tutor at UK universities (University of Greenwich, University of Middlesex, Kingston University). She also has 20 years of experience teaching English as Second Language and English for Specific Purposes. She has participated as speaker at conferences and has published articles and research papers on Multimodal Processing and Cognitive Load, Task-based approaches to language Teaching, Asynchronous Computer Mediated Communication and language development, Teacher Development and Educational Technology.
