International Research Presence of the New York College Department of Psychology at the TIRIAE 2025 Conference

Faculty of the NYC Department of Psychology presented their research at the "TIRIAE" 2025 conference: Teaching Intensive | Research Informed | Assessment Enabled. The conference took place at the University of Greater Manchester on 2nd-3rd September 2025 and was attended by over 300 experts in Higher Education and student wellbeing. Dr Antonia Svensson, Head of the Department of Psychology and Associate Dean at NYC, and Christina Tsaliki, MSc, psychology instructor and PhD candidate, presented the findings of their evaluation of the Peer Mentoring scheme that was implemented in the NYC Psychology Department in the academic year of 2024-25. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with the Peer Mentors & Mentees and was analysed using Thematic Analysis. Students who took part in the mentoring scheme experienced enhanced professional and personal identity, an increased sense of belonging and campus connectedness, and improved interpersonal skills and personal strengths. Alessia Lulaj, recent graduate of the BSc (Hons) Psychology, Psychotherapy and Counselling programme at NYC also presented at the TIRIAE conference, delivering a talk entitled "The Adjustment Experiences of International Students in Greece" based on her Honors Project dissertation, supervised by Dr Antonia Svensson.
